November – Connection
“We’re not meant to understand everything, but we are meant to have a deep connection with ourselves and others.” ― Melody Beattie
As the holidays approaches, many of us may feel the weight of extra stress. There is so much to do and prepare for. However, I encourage you to shift your focus from the endless to- do list and turn your attention toward something even more important—nurturing meaningful social connections. Whether you are spending time with family at holiday gatherings or making special plans with friends you don’t see often, now is the perfect opportunity to strengthen these bonds.
In recent years, loneliness has become an increasing concern for many. The feeling of isolation can have a profound impact on both our mental and physical well-being. As humans, we crave meaningful relationships where we feel wanted, accepted, and loved. To help foster these connections during the holiday season, here are a few ideas:
- Exercise: Simple activities like taking a walk after a meal not only promote physical health but also create opportunities for meaningful conversation with those you are with.
- Volunteer: Giving back during the holidays is a great way to feel good while making a positive impact. Volunteering with a friend or meeting new people in the process can also help strengthen your social ties.
- Connect with Coworkers: Many of us spend a large portion of our time at work. Take the opportunity to build positive relationships with colleagues—whether through a casual chat or organizing a holiday lunch or event.
- No Phone Zone: Set boundaries with your phone during gatherings. By putting it away, you can stay present in the moment and fully engage with the people around you.
- Collaborate on Tasks: Running errands or completing household chores with others allows you to spend quality time together while also getting things done more efficiently.
- Special Events: Group events like holiday parties, sound baths, or community activities offer great opportunities to meet new peoples and make connections in a relaxed, fun setting.
This holiday season take time to fill your own bucket with meaningful connections, and don’t forget to reach out to others. Whether it is a simple gesture of kindness or an intentional effort to connect, small moments of togetherness can make a big difference. Please take the time this holiday season to be sure you are filling your bucket with wonderful connections and also reaching out to those around you.
Wishing you a holiday season filled with joy, connection, and warmth!
