August – Routine
“Your little choices become habits that affect the bigger decisions you make in life.”― Elizabeth George
I don’t know about you, but I love summer. The fresh air and sunshine make me feel energized. As we near the end of summer I always realize how much I also enjoy the change or season, not only the weather, but also the need to add a little more routine and structure back into my day. Long summer days bring late nights and early mornings in order to soak up all the beauty of the day (especially for those of us who live in Wisconsin and know how short summer is). For me, fall and the start of school represent an opportunity to re-establish routines and start beautiful new habits. Here are a few habits to include in your routine to set yourself and your family up for a great day and the ability to decisions:
- Establish a morning routine. Confirm what activities in the morning need to be done and what activities may not be setting you up for a successful day.
- What are your non-negotiables? Do you have certain events, routines, or opportunities that are always a yes? Make sure you are scheduling and blocking out this time so you do not miss what may be important to you.
- Exercise. Our health is so important to our overall well-being. Exercise doesn’t have to look like powerlifting in the gym or running a marathon. Simply moving a little more than we did the day before can help relieve stress and provide more energy.
- Fresh air. Getting outside no matter what the weather is can significantly change our mood and attitude.
Have a very positive energy filled day!
