June – Sunshine

Hello summer! I don’t know about you, but I always feel energized once the sunshine returns and provides a beautiful glow around us and nature. The name Shine Sound Therapy stems from Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” For me, the name Shine Sound Therapy also references my need for sunshine for health benefits. The sun plays a very important part in our health and wellbeing. Here are a few ways the sun is good for us: – Vitamin D and Immune System Support: The sunlight provides a great amount of vitamin D production in our bodies. Healthy bones, teeth, and immune function are just a few ways that vitamin D helps protect us. – Emotional Wellbeing: The release of serotonin is triggered by the sun which can help individuals feel more happy and release feelings of sadness and anxiety. Endorphins are also released causing us to feel good. – Sleep: The sun promotes healthy sleep patterns and sleep quality by regulating our internal body clock. – Brain Function and Energy: We have better mental alertness and attention when we have some exposure to the sun. Increased productivity and energy are also great benefits. – Healthy Skin: Limited sun exposure has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. As a reminder, we do need to practice sun safety as well. Please protect yourself from the sun and limit the amount of time you spend in the direct sunlight. |
